Endless Plains, Timeless Drama

"Serengeti" — derived from the Maasai word Siringet, meaning "the place where the land runs on forever."

Few places on Earth stir the human soul quite like the Serengeti. Stretching across northern Tanzania in a sweep of golden grassland, scattered acacia, and seasonal rivers, this is the world's most celebrated wildlife sanctuary — and for good reason. The sheer density and variety of animals here is simply unmatched anywhere else on the planet.

Whether you come for the thundering spectacle of the Great Migration, the thrill of a lion hunt at dawn, or simply to sit in silence as the African sun melts into the horizon, the Serengeti delivers experiences that reshape the way you see the world.

The Great Migration — A Year in Motion

Over 1.5 million wildebeest, 200,000 zebra, and 300,000 gazelle follow an ancient, instinct-driven circuit through the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. There is no single "best" time — each season offers a different, breathtaking chapter.

January – March

Calving Season

The southern Serengeti fills with newborn wildebeest — up to 8,000 born per day. Predators gather in extraordinary numbers. The plains feel alive with raw, ancient energy.

April – June

The Long March

Massive herds begin moving northwest through the central Serengeti. Rain greens the landscape dramatically. Fewer tourists mean a more intimate experience.

July – September

River Crossings

The iconic Mara River crossings — wildebeest leaping into crocodile-filled waters. Dramatic, terrifying, unforgettable. The peak safari season in the northern Serengeti.

October – December

The Return

Herds move south again toward the Ndutu plains. The eastern Serengeti sees action, and the cycle begins anew. Short rains bring a fresh green flush to the savanna.

Who You'll Meet

🦁

African Lion

The Serengeti holds one of Africa's largest lion populations — over 3,000. Witness pride dynamics, territorial battles, and hunts that have remained unchanged for millennia.

🐘

African Elephant

Large herds roam the woodlands of the western corridor and northern Serengeti. Watching a family cross the plains at sunset is a sight that never loses its power.

🐆

Leopard & Cheetah

Leopards drape themselves over kopje rocks and fever trees with effortless elegance. The open plains are also among the best places on Earth to observe cheetahs hunting.

🦏

Black Rhinoceros

The northern Serengeti near Mara River harbours a small but growing black rhino population — rare, secretive, and one of Africa's most precious sights.

🦓

Plains Zebra

200,000 zebra join the migration, their stripes dazzling en masse. They move ahead of wildebeest, grazing the long grass and acting as guides for the herds behind them.

🐦

Birds (500+ Species)

From the lilac-breasted roller to the secretary bird and the martial eagle — the Serengeti is a paradise for birders. Flamingos gather at seasonal lakes in the south.
